Anyone else on Linux seeing just ridiculous CPU usage from the Spotify desktop client? I'm using the Flatpak version, and it's pegging one core around 50% utilization.

@mttaggart Different question - why use a separate desktop client, when it works fine in a browser tab?BTW, not seeing terrible CPU use in Firefox this way. Even less with ncspot, which is a CLI-based client that can just sit in tmux.

@tim_lavoie@cosocial.ca Because I want to? I prefer having a separate desktop app for my music, given how much I interact with it.I also prefer separate apps for things like email. Even this here is desktop app I installed from Vivaldi, which is not a thing I can do in Firefox, btw.

@mttaggart Hey, whatever floats your boat! I was mostly just curious about what the advantage of a separate application for a web-based app might be.

@mttaggart seeing 8.3% consistently here using the snap (fluctuation between 7-15% over time). And just noticed 25% during track change. And back down to 7.9%

@mttaggart I had to rebuild the app due to corrupted cache, but I'll check it when I get home from working out

This definitely had something to do with the desktop build, or maybe the Flatpak. Moving to a Vivaldi desktop "app" of the webapp solved the issue.

@mttaggart not seeing anything crazy out of the spotify flatpak, 1% on one core to run process, 5% intermittently to run the stream. running on nobara release 38, kernel 6.5.9, plasma 5.27.8 wayland session

@mttaggart Oops, I'm using the snap version, but I'm not experiencing the same issue you're seeing.
