So how is it that a few tweaks here and there and a 10 year old laptop loads some sites faster than you can observe?!And Microsoft also has a green veneer. We're so green in our cloud blablabla, meanwhile they force the masses to upgrade perfectly fine devices. Same for google, apple and many, many smaller firms.

@CapitalB planned obsolescence. The business model of so many. Only way to keep selling their products.

@dewtheone I know this all... but their product engineering and what they say is so out of sync it gets on my nerves. And then some more important (TM) idiots have a podium somewhere talking endlessly about either green stuff or "digitization" or both and NOBODY ever raises that question. I hope the EU makes that right to repair law so broad it kills them all.https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/administration/windows-commands/fsutil-behavior "memoryusage" which can have a huge impact on general performance. Very weird. Why is that not the default?

@CapitalB @dewtheone every new iteration of a product or operating system is increasingly inferior to its predecessor. Shit just doesn't work properly anymore but costs twice as much and is obsolete in half the time. It's reminiscent of the complaints I used to hear from former Soviet block people. Nothing works and everyone is miserable.WELCOME TO ZE GREAT RESET!

@MrPierrey @dewtheone Ironically that unreliable Soviet stuff now is being used up ahemAlso annoying is that there are many, many unknown opt-outs. There is a German "Manufaktur" assembling fully open phones (except the 5G module bc of laws). But the accessibility of such devices and the knowledge where to get one is almost zero in the general public. Meanwhile the technical elites (IT-guys) and the technocratic elites both point to these tiny islands to assert that there are "options".
