Thanks Microsoft.Despite me declining the upgrade to Windows 11 Pro for years, you finally forced it on me.And now it's slower. Excel can't keep up with me.Thanks Microsoft. I'm so glad you demand to be a service instead of simply producing a good product.

@stewil102 Maybe it is all the processing power going to their tracking stuff in the background?

@cowanon @chud @jeremiah @stewil102 Libreoffice has always seemed weird to me. A lot of the word processing automatic format choices seem weird and I just want something that works well with Microsoft since that's what everybody uses. Maybe I'll give it a try for personal stuff again.

@HaleakalaCrater this is a 2006 Mac Pro running Win11, if you know what to do it's easy to bypass the hardware requirements.

My IT dept tried forcing libre on us. None of our excel sheets would work. Formulas all broke. Conditional formatting reduced to three rules. Borders and colors got all fucky. I mean it works if you just want to make a simple budget or a sex spreadsheet, but to force it on professionals was retarded.

@BowsacNoodle @chud @cowanon @stewil102 that's been my experience with Libreoffice. Once Collabra got in the game and hooked it up to NextCloud so you can do multiplayer LibreOffice over the web... there's very few special case arguments for Billware that can beat the open source alternatives now.ywwv

@yedkf @chud @cowanon @The_Almighty_Kek @stewil102 @BowsacNoodle no, not even if google wasn't cancer.LIke, two people can't view the same spreadsheet with different sorts/filters without effecting each other. That's retarded.

@jeremiah @yedkf @chud @cowanon @The_Almighty_Kek @stewil102 Google docs is horrid. Libre has potential but it's very hard to beat excel. Excel is, at this point, functionally a mediocre database program, BIS software, notepad, and a place to shove "programs" that are too simple to be standalone applications, all while having like 20+ years of backwards compatibility. I'd call it Microsoft's best piece of software. The number of businesses that would totally break if excel stopped working is very high.

@BowsacNoodle @jeremiah @yedkf @chud @cowanon @The_Almighty_Kek @stewil102 It's a similar situation to Github, it feels like if there's more enterprise users than consoomer users, then they cant do usual jewish consoomer shit to it since it risks pissing off the megacorps that use it. Kinda like how business laptops don't come with the usual bloatware

@chud @cowanon @jeremiah @stewil102 A little bird told me you could do a trial of office, turn off your computer once all programs are installed, change your onedrive password through a different computer, and have unlimited length trial. Who knows if that's still true but interesting if so.

@chud @cowanon @stewil102 @BowsacNoodle i've never had a problem with crashing -- it has crashed two or three times over the last 10 years. I'm often working with master/sub documents (FrameMaker style) that go +1000 pages; handles it like a champ.

@The_Almighty_Kek @chud @cowanon @jeremiah @stewil102 @BowsacNoodle I've once heard of scheduled sex by an OCD Japanese wife.. that's the only time I can imagine needing a spreadsheet.
