@jalefkowit I have both a Tesla Model 3 and an older Renault Grand Scenic. I don't see any benefit of the more traditional controls and displays in the Renault vs the Tesla.(And I hate the Tesla, so please don't take this as fanboyism)

@jalefkowit Do you drive both types of environment yourself? Unless you have some AR display where you don't even need to refocus there's no difference.

@troed @jalefkowit I’m super not a Tesla fan boy and won’t be buying another. We have a Model Y and a Volvo XC40 Recharge (which has touchscreen and traditional controls). The model y touchscreen is *almost* never an issue while driving. Seeing your speed does not require any more change in your view than a traditional dash cluster.

@troed @jalefkowit my larger concern with the Volvo (after having one) is that everything in the electronics from top to bottom is underpowered. Google Auto is a hog, slow as can be. That is the biggest safety issue for *any* touchscreen interface in the car. Not the fact that it is touchscreen. By guiding my hands on the edges of the screen I basically know where most important things are in the Y without looking. And when I press a button, it actually responds.

@troed @jalefkowit we bought my wife the Volvo specifically because of our hatred of musk. The Volvo is a gorgeous car, but is more expensive (by a lot) and the user/driver experience is terrible

@wesdottoday Yeah our lease on the Tesla is up in a few months and we're frantically looking for which EV to replace it with. We also want to go larger, so maybe Kia EV9. Unfortunately the middle row in the six seater is not allowed to turn around in Sweden. The "software experience" I think we just need to accept is still not up to Tesla's level :/@jalefkowit

@troed @jalefkowit similar here. Our lease is up in august and I was starting to get worried. But I’m the end, I think I’m going to buy an old international harvester pickup from the 50s/60s. I need a truck and don’t drive much at all. When the Volvo is due, we’re hoping for some more options or might swing for a R1S

@troed @jalefkowit Smart #1 has a nice heads-up display for the speedo etc, plus other key info in driver line of sight. This was a big factor in my choosing it over the Volvo
