Why is anyone surprised when Fedora is a first mover on new tech, did we all forget about Systemd, Pulseaudio, BTRFS, Pipewire, defaulting to Wayland and now of course dropping X11 on Plasma.

@BrodieOnLinux this seems to be the thing that all the "Fedora used to be bad but it is new now" people forget.Yeah it is good now, but they are doing stuff that's not for the faint of heart, and you might not want to recommend this distro to someone you won't like to spend time with when the next big thing turns out to be crap for a while.

@BrodieOnLinux X11 has done all it can for us. It is up to the Wayland of Light now.

@BrodieOnLinux To be fair Fedora has had quite a few banger releases the past few years.

@BrodieOnLinux probably one of the reasons is that a lot of people weren’t even around back then. This usually арplies to any situation when someone asks “did people forget”, be it politics, business, cinematography, or indeed even operating systems, as not ѕo long ago the market share of Linux was so much smaller than it is today. Sure, unlike the other scenarios, these people might have been born back then and even old enough to care/understand, but they probably used Windows

@hmlendea Some of this stuff only happened a few years back, I get not knowing about the systemd and pulseaudio change though

@BrodieOnLinux Well, with PulseAudio Ubuntu was really, really fast, and I think OpenSUSE was faster with Btrfs ;-)Still, Fedora is usually very quick with new technology and either leading or following shortly behind.

@matk They aren't the first in every case but they're always close to it
