BBC: "Everyone got duped by Sam Bankman-Fried's big gamble"No, lots of us called crypto out from the very start. I was reading accurate critiques of bitcoin in 2012.Journalists and financiers and politicians got duped or didn't care about the truth when there was money to be made. Now you're trying to pretend nobody warned you? Get fucked.

@moh_kohn It's astonishing how widely applicable this is.Nobody knew invading Iraq would throw the whole middle east into chaos. Nobody knew the UK leaving the EU without a plan would be a problem. Nobody knew what kind of person Boris Johnson is. In a few years nobody will have known climate change was going to disrupt the global food supply.

@petealexharrisJust to be clear, the "invading Iraq destabilized Middle East" is a popular but entirely false trope, mostly propagated by RT and the like.As a reminder, #Arab Spring started in Tunisia in 2010 as result of miserable living conditions, overwhelming corruption and police violence. It triggered of wave of similar protests in other Arab countries, for exactly the same reasons. #Iraq and and Tunisia aren't even on the same continent. It belongs to the same class of historic fallacies as the claim that it was US SDI ("star wars") that triggered USSR economic collapse or that #Euromaidan was a CIA coup.@moh_kohn

@moh_kohn You're right that many saw through FTX, Celsius etc. But it has nothing to do with Bitcoin.

@moh_kohn What does bitcoin have to do with it? That's like saying you were reading accurate critiques of Fedwire long before Bernie Madoff scammed his investors. The two are completely unrelated. Also, it was literally bitcoiners who suspected and then uncovered the FTX scam by poking SBF in public debates.

@moh_kohn (You may be mixing things up, because the majority of other cryptocurrencies are actually some form of scam.)

@moh_kohn BBC journalists probably were duped. You don't get to become a BBC journalist by being smart, you just have to go to the right schools.
