I tested it with a normal LED because of its simplicity. It did not work.

It looks very exciting under the microscope. The tungsten bulb is defective. The diodes are really very small.

@BoscoLab Well I'm just thinking that in anything slightly more modern I've seen it done with IR LEDs, but I can imagine that the tungsten bulbs probably put out a lot of IR.
