@Decentralize The irony here being that an iphone without an icloud account is virtually unusable while you can install apps and use an android without a google account.

@rridley not entirely true tho. You can use the App Store without iCloud accounts and you can even sign in on iCloud with a different account as the App Store or iMessage etc.. not an Apple fan but pointing that out to be fair

@Decentralize I'd need to double check that because last time i tried the app store was very insistent i needed an account to install anything but it's also been a while.I'll give it another go

@rridley the App Store needs an account. But it don’t have to be your iCloud or iMessage account and you can also sign out again after installing.. and you absolutely don’t need to sign in into iCloud

Google calling android a massive tracking device comically hypocritical.But having just tried to look into this "amazing ungoogled experience" only to find that it was explicitly limited to google made phones, and not my plebian phone was a sharp experience.You wanna hold up an ungoogled android you point at lineage, they aren't huffing their own farts

@xorowl please make more research on that lineage has code what connects to google… been pointed out before when we still had the blog. GrapheneOS has all google code removed and the system hardened. It’s not even the same ball game. Even it uses a google phone. What is sadly the phone what has the safest chip and can be closed after the baseband again. I like lineage but read up on graphene it’s worth it.

@rridley yes true but then again, you can download and log out… it’s not untraceable and I never claimed that.. but you don’t need to be logged in at any time to the account or at all to iCloud

@Decentralize signal shot themselves in the stomach when they dropped sms support.any hope of me getting anyone other than my boss to use it was instantly thrown in the garbage disposal.Security i can't get people to use is no security at all.You can maybe make the arguement that it's the easiest way, but you can't say "best". that's just nonsense when they only support google made phones.You almost had me though with that calculator till i saw the cost they're extorting for it
