What is the funniest response you have ever got from a learner as a teacher?

@JonathanMBR i like that the teacher had a sense of humour and gave bonus points for the original funny approach and problem solving.

@JonathanMBR @tantramar From a chemistry test, asking to classify a bond. Sadly, I don’t remember if they got it right with the final answer. 50:50 odds 😉

@JonathanMBR @danielneumann "83" as result of a calculation how many lamps we need in a classroom. It was the classroom they were sitting in. A glimpse to the ceiling would have shown him the right answer. It's nine 😁

@JonathanMBR I love how supportive the teacher is! I have seen similar things where the teacher doesn't even gives gives the points for such a clever approach

@JonathanMBR there were definitely more, but the only one I remember is a student writing of splitting atoms instead of ions that separate when going in solution.

@JonathanMBR @tantramar Two guys did an assignment and presentation on benzene and mostly phoned it in, aside from a two page comic telling the story of Billy, a young man who discovers that wishing for a life without benzene has unfortunate consequences… It all starts with him looking for something to wash his hands with. I still get a laugh from it. 😊 I’m reluctant to post the whole thing, as I’ve lost touch with the artist and don’t want to take liberties.#Chemistry #SafetyFirst

@JonathanMBR This reminds me of those tests they handed out in school where you were told to read the steps to the instructions first before completing the sheet and hand it in. The last instruction on the page was always, "Now that you've read this all the way through, ignore all the previous steps, sign the paper, and turn it in."

@JonathanMBRIn 8th grade my English teacher wrote, "Can you name the parts of speech?" on a quiz. Since I couldn't, I wrote, "Yes," and got credit for it.😁

@JonathanMBROn an assignment to demonstrate a java class for time and date handling (just the globals and get/set methods without code, this was the first assignment for a beginner course), someone handed in a class with a single value called timestamp. I would've given them full points, but it was a 32 bit signed integer where I'd have expected a 64 bit unsigned integer. Still a good catch and a bit of a laugh when we talked it through in class.

@thweyrich @JonathanMBR Music seems to be the funniest subject ever.I wrote a class test about a bach fugue, one task was to name the keys each part of the fugue was in (like a harmonic minor and stuff like that). One student was toally lost, but funny, he wrote "klingonisch moll", which rhymes to "harmonisch moll" , translation would be "klingon minor" instead of "harmonic minor", it's funnier in german.

@JonathanMBRI haven't done anything with java or other mainstream languages in years, so I'd probably be kinda useless as a teacher by now. I got into dinosaur wrangling (Mainframe system programming) quite some time ago. While that's an interesting enough topic by itself, it's also virtually impossible to get a teaching environment set up for it unless you're working with a fairly large company.
