@PNS I think there might be some affectation there. Underlying grammar and usage was on target. Regarding 'grade level' in general, particularly with government schools, significant shrinkflation has occurred over the past several decades. I was reading at a post-college level in Middle school in the '70's because my family are readers. And DoD schools were non-nonsense three-Rs. Now, government school 12th grade graduates at the low end are getting matriculated at 3rd grade capability.

@PNS Now, I didn't say I *agreed* with her premises...Liberals/socialists will twist words, re-define them, and misuse them to try to make whatever case they desire. Dictionaries online are virtually worthless now. I have a large three-volume print set of the Webster's Dictionary from the '80s that I will keep forever and pass on to my progeny as an anchor on what things really meant once. Language is suffering because definitions are printed at will like US currency.

Most likely she was never taught the subject, because government schools teach the social messaging the government wants, rather than hard skills and evidence-based science, math; real history (I'm sure I got some doctored viewpoints in the '60s and '70s as well), literature, writing (WTF with no cursive?!?!), and generic global social studies vs. social propaganda. But she knows how to 'message'.
