People-pleasing is a road to misery, and learning how and where to set boundaries is a difficult but extremely worthwhile skill."Listening to upbeat happy songs and realizing the sad shit you surrounded yourself with  made it worse" I have to disagree with.  Melancholy music and media can be cathartic, and pushing "upbeat happy songs" can be toxic positivity, which is crazy-making.  I think what tone of music that 'fits' a person is something to keep an eye on, but not push outcomes with.  It's a symptom, not a cause, and maybe trying to notice if/when a more upbeat song starts to feel like it 'fits' can signal a time to change.  This is all my own subjective view, though.

       @taylan @Stellar none of these things are easy, some are incredibly hard.  Just like eating less and exercising more to lose weight can be incredibly hard, even though the simplicity of it make it sound easy
