I read a lore book about StarCraft 2 which is what I was playing constantly at the time. The thing that really impacted me was the main character being the leader of a resistance faction that really was just his personal way of getting revenge for the death of his woman. However as the story progresses he finds himself more and more of a leader and eventually even works with the son of the man who killed her in order to save the galaxy. And he's saving it from her, because she came back from the dead as the queen of the zerg. It's a very well put together story.

The Cask of Amontilliado. That story had me messed up, thinking about how the dude was just going to be left there to die. I was like "What did he do to deserve that???" and it's never addressed! Like, some kind of vague slight against Montresor's family - that's all that's really mentioned!

Harrison Bergeron my sophomore year of high school.Everything leaving up to it was disturbing, but The part when he was executed on a televisied stage and his parents couldn't remember it moments later really fucked me up.

"The Bear Trap" by John MacDonald. I read it at about age 15 and it captivated me with longing and sadness.

A limerick from a forgotten comic book:There was a fine warrior of Sparta,Whose dagger she kept tucked in her garter. When her lover to please,Stuck his head twixt her knees,With her spasm she made him a martyr.

This one probably isn't the best to assign, considering you'll have to play StarCraft to get the end of the story. The only thing I remember from school is Romeo and Juliet, and a short story called hatchet.

You're kidding right? I refuse to believe a goth has never heard of Cask of Amontillado! If one of Poe's best stories!

I don't think I knew what a sieve was. The lines,"Far and few, far and few,"Are the lands where the Jumblies live.Their heads are green and their hands are blue,"And they went to sea in a sieve,"really stuck with me for some reason, even though I never tried to memorize them. I college, a friend asked me to test a mic, and I recited those lines. He looked at me as if I were nuts.BTW, Afred Jarry used the idea going to sea in a sieve in "The Opinions and Exploits of Doctor Faustroll, Pataphysician." Although, Dr. F's sieve was wax-lined and fine enough that the surface tension of the water kept it afloat. I've no idea if Jarry was influenced by Lear. The footnote's of my copy said Jarry got the idea from the writings of Lord Kelvin.
