Anyone out there that is aware of this? From the looks of it, the USA tested a nuclear bomb of some yield in Nevada on October 18. Today is the first I heard about it.For those who may not know: The USA, China, France, Russia, and the United Kingdom all signed a treaty in 1996 banning the testing of ANY KING of nuclear weapons.Prior to that there was a treaty banning atmospheric tests, and underground tests were still permitted. The US govt. has responded with "This test was done with the intent of improving the USA's capabilities when detecting nuclear tests including ones underground." So they aren't even denying that they tested a nuclear weapon. The timing of this test is also dubious given the amount of hostility between nuclear-armed powers of the past years and these past weeks.Right now there are AT LEAST 2 US aircraft carrier groups which contain support/escort warships either headed to or already in the Mediterranean Sea. I've seen news articles stating others will be departing as well. Russia & Iran have said this is hostility as it puts more weapons platforms within striking range of their territory.Iran has threatened to engage Israel over their strikes, and possible ground-invasion of Gaza.Days ago republican Lindsey Graham stated we should strike Iran even WITHOUT proof of them funding/coordinating the Hamas attacks in Israel. Iran is priority ally of Russia, and enemy of Israel & Saudi Arabia. It's also a competitor in oil & energy. There are multiple stories of terror attacks or ethnic-motivated attacks in the USA and Europe due to the Gaza/Israel situation.I can't believe this is where we are right now. This is not the time to be picking fights with half the world over crimes that Israel & Hamas are committing on each other.

First I've heard of it, but it's not such a big deal because that treaty was kind of a joke. I'm pretty sure the US never ratified it, which makes it pointless, so now Russia wants to end it. We're back in the Cold War, that's all.

Even if it wasn't ratified the US hasn't done a nuclear test since 1992, and Russia in 1990. It's been something the entire world viewed favorably that testing had ceased. The timing makes it seem like posturing, and Israel has also made threats of using their "non-existent" nukes against Iran.Since 2001 it's been on the agenda to topple Iran's influence, and they were the final country outlined in the PNAC document. So it's like unfinished business.
