TIL In WWI, the German's A7V Sturmpanzerwagen tank had a minimum of 18 crew, sometimes as many as 25 men onboard. 1 commander, 1 driver, 1 mechanic, 1 signaler, 6 machine gunners, 6 loaders, and 2 artillerymenhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A7V#til #todayilearnedhttps://www.reddit.com/r/todayilearned/comments/17h0xd6/til_in_wwi_the_germans_a7v_sturmpanzerwagen_tank/

@todayilearned There was talk about "Land Battleships" and giant machines that could just roll over everything. Turns out it is pretty easy to stop giant vehicles with terrain obstacles. The Germans didn't learn a thing because they built overweight tanks such as the Maus in WW2, which could not cross a lot of bridges.
