I have read tens, if not hundreds of thousands of books, and used to have an entire room of my house set up like a private library. You know what all that reading taught me? If you said it was that I had better have at least a couple guns, you're right. Being intelligent and well-read does not mean you need to be a spineless little fucking weasel... in fact, it becomes dangerous if you are- living in fear is worse than having tools that make old ladies nervous because eventually you will grow tired of that fear and start doing bullshit like encouraging genocide so you can feel safe.And stop worrying about how many guns any given person has- for fuck's sake, unless they're an octopus, they can only shoot two at a time, and the rest may as well be a collection of teddy bears or mild steel fantasy swords hanging on the wall- and are probably safer than both... because a guy with a $100,000 gun collection is going to actually invest in security and learn to shoot properly, while old man Fudd with one shotgun is just gonna stick that sucker in a closet or under the bed and hope for the best.

Anti gun people also never bring up other weapons. I have a crossbow that's rated 3x the necassary draw weight to shoot an elk. It's slow to load but it could pin a small elephant to a fence. On a similar note I've seen multiple designs for full auto crossbows that are legal in many places where full auto guns aren't.
