I used to have a strong policy of never saying "please" or "thank you" to an LLM because it felt like anthropomorphism, and also felt absurdI'm experimenting with "please" now on the basis that the training data is full of examples of people getting more constructive replies through not being rude!

@simonI found it quite natural - in a simulated dialogue, I simulate my own responses to sound "real". :) Also, I've intuitively expected this tone matched training data better and therefore the answers would be "easier" for the LLM (lowering perplexity).

@simon I just tried to ask #DallE3 for the seed of a generated picture, but now it just answers “I'm sorry, but I don't have access to specific details such as the seed used to generate an image.” Did you notice the same change in behaviour?

@simon OK, weird behaviour: It tells me the seed in every new chat I start and in every old chat. But in that one case I asked for it, it refuses to tell me.
