https://habr.com/ru/articles/769892/This dude tried to get modified Linux source code from a Russian vendor Digma and in email they literally replied:"Forget about GNU and others, it's under NDA for many years and nothing builds there. Also it needs signing keys.""Write letters to Google, Sport lotto and wherever you see fit. Scare us and hurt us. We are waiting. We won't give you anything at all."

@lispi314 @a1ba pretty sure the Russian government explicitly made piracy of works produced in certain countries legal shortly after the war in Ukraine (basically the entirety of Europe, North America and Australia. The sole exception is Turkey) so... technically they ARE above the GPL.

@lispi314 @a1ba That's fair; not saying they shouldn't get fucked. It would be extremely funny if their stuff got leaked and they kept the various GPL files in their repositories so that their entire project is under GPL.I've seen quite a few projects made by individuals leak out due to bad privacy controls and they had decided to GPL their source code privately, because that's what they wanted to do when they actually would have released it (involuntary source release?). It's always best to avoid putting a license on your code unless you're ready for it to be released, lest someone find it early.Just noting that this has slightly more teeth as a "fuck off" than getting the same answer from some Chinese crapware tablet manufacturer (who only say it because "good luck filing lawsuits in China", not because they are actually above the law).
