@mhjohnson the NBC article is full of balogna but so is the not the bee one. Totally glosses over the fact that the PD sat on the information for months, when they had everything to inform the mother within a day or two of the accident.

@MrAnthrope They tried to contact her right away and she didn't reply.I'll give you a story that happened to me.Early during COVID someone used a name similar to me to apply for benefits. A debit cards shows up at my address.Call to the bank - they basically refused to take my information because I didn't know the SSN they used to apply.Message to the state - no response.City police report - got a reply a week later saying - close the report. Too busy.It happens.

@mhjohnson "they tried" = one alleged voicemail.The NBC story is dramatized and racialized, but I still think it's scandalous that someone was killed, identified quickly, and they just made one call. Especially once he was reported missing!
