@DeWalt 1, I am proud to say that I have a niece that was going to be a sophomore at American University in DC. She is a talented singer, dancer, and most importantly, actress. She wants to be a serious actor, and, with my (pushy) encouragement, she tried out for the masters program at the Stella Adler acting studio in NY, and won one of 28 spots. She dropped out of American, and is now studying there. Stella Adler immediately responded to the deadly war on 10/7, and says they will protect her.

@DeWalt 2. I am so glad that she listened to me. Times Square is filled with hateful Hamas supporters, and my blond, blue-eyed niece has removed her Star of David necklace in fear (she got accosted by multiple strangers the other day, even without her star, asking if she was Jewish.) She was afraid, so she said "no" before moving away. At least she does not need to run from Hamas supporters in her 'safe' college in DC.

@DeWalt 3. The biggest joke? American U was costing her parents $70K per year. Stella Adler, one of the premier acting schools in the country (and the world) charges 17K, and that includes living dorm expenses because they do not believe in gouging money out of those who love acting. She can also go home every weekend she needs to.

@DeWalt Thanks. It's pathetic. I will be seeing her next week, because my younger sister, her mom, is having a difficult surgery and I will be going East to help take care of her for a week. I saw them 1 month ago b/c our only uncle died (in FL) and was out there for a funeral. It has been a rough month. Between his death, her surgery (it's a big deal) and the war in Israel (we are having problems getting in touch with our family in the south) it has been v hard on my 92 yr-old mom.

@DeWalt 4. On that note.. if any of you SQVers are prayer warriors, can you please put her on your prayer lists? Her name is Lurie, and her surgery (a big one) is on Nov. 2. She has three daughters who totally depend on her, her ex had a stroke, he divorced her to keep his money, and she needs all the help she can get. I will be flying out to help for a week. @DeWalt I am the one who decided to learn how to shoot... I bought my first gun in 2020 and encouraged Mr Wzi (who grew up with them in Mexico) to get some and learn how to protect ourselves. We now have several, practice regularly, and I am about to buy my first AR15 in cash. We now have several pistols. (Ok, I have more, but I find it empowering) and he is close behind.
