I still think Raven should be #Alaska’s state #bird. https://www.adn.com/alaska-news/wildlife/2023/10/24/rare-white-raven-spotted-in-anchorage/?fbclid=IwAR3GZyxKGC24aDFuUbXnvxsxlls9vovQyMtL1w5AWQ8g9pFsgpC0fE0GRyc_aem_AZoDVCffDPaa-bz2w8IQqRbX7-jRNV3vzulCXDT2EwIrxlZhqUVYcMtfSCDCNkW2PzM

@IdahoLark As a bird expert, how does one differentiate a Raven and a Crow?

@sallie_curious There are several features to look for. Ravens are bigger, have a bigger beak with a tuft of feathers next to the upper base, a shaggy neck (not always visible), have a much different call, and have a different shape to their tail. They are more solitary than crows, too.

@sallie_curious There are lots of crows in town in McCall, but I see and hear ravens often in the area you describe (just last week even), as well as close to the lake (Sylvan Beach).
