@davidgerard This is kind of a metaphor for how societies descend into fascism. The red pills only need to win once - the blue pills always need to win.

@0x575446 @davidgerard I think there’s a different analysis here — there is no “rational” reason to choose the blue pill. If everyone chooses the red pill, *everyone* is safe.

@michaelgemar @davidgerard That's why it's a great metaphor for fascism - it demands uniformity using the threat of death for those who choose the blue pill.

@0x575446 @michaelgemar @davidgerard @0x575446 @michaelgemar @davidgerard I think I’m being dense, but I don’t see it—“unless a majority are willing to risk their lives, the minority that completely needlessly risked their lives will die” is how I read it. We have a “rule” that you don’t stick forks into electrical sockets. We socialize that rule to children; we don’t say “If hundreds of people stick forks into sockets at the same time, the current will be distributed and no one will die.”

@0x575446 @michaelgemar @davidgerard Never mind, I think I see what you’re saying. I was being too literal. “If a minority of people do what we don’t like, we can kill them, but if a majority band together there’s nothing we can do.”
