@electrek I wonder how much of this is charging concerns for non-Supercharger networks? If it is, it should all settle out in the next few years.

@dharrison @electrek charger access can be pretty nonexistent in some areas and there is also charger reliability. I know in my area there is only two publicly available level 2 chargers and no level 3, at home charging is also problematic as many rent and landlords are resistant to ev adoption.

@Sh4d0w_H34rt @electrek Absolutely. Clearly at this fairly early point of the transition, some people are going to decide that they don't have reliable charging options - at least for trips, if not day to day.

@Sh4d0w_H34rt @electrek Also, I wonder if Tesla's lack of a traditional dealer network is a factor here - that having sales locations predominately in areas that have supercharger coverage helps reduce charging dissatisfaction.

@dharrison @electrek we all know the dealership experience its never pleasant Tesla not having that is a boon to their brand image. Legacy brand dealerships have been shown to try steer customers away from EVs.https://insideevs.com/news/666592/us-dealer-no-evs-nearly-half-refuse-sell-evs-report/

@Sh4d0w_H34rt @electrek Agreed, but that doesn't really explain people going back to ICE vehicles from an EV.

@dharrison @electrek it could come down to repair costs as well with many insurances even going as far as to declare an EV a total wreck due to the cost to repair. In that event it would be a hassle to stick with an EV versus an ICE vehicle. The Automotive industry has always been bad about proprietary designs EV adoption is making it worse with everything being "bespoke". We need universal standards.

@Sh4d0w_H34rt @dharrison @electrek Competition is better than standards. You standardize everything and you freeze innovation at that point.
