@glynmoody That's what high winds do to shallow rooted trees. You see the results after every storm.

@glynmoody I don't think it's strange, even if not very common. High winds will cause trees to bend and lift the shallow roots and overlying soil. In extreme cases of course, the trees may fall over. There are videos of this phenomenon on YouTube.
