finished the scalemail thingy. it connects around the wrist with a clasp and on the finger with a ring and chain. it's ok but i'm not that thrilled about how it came out, i think something like this would look a lot better with smaller scales. so i will probably disassemble and use the scales for something else. i learned a lot though

@emma @efertone interesting, i guess there is some engineering that has to happen to get them to conform to a curved surface without raising up. maybe you can adjust the ring size to get them to lay flat? idk. looks cool but of course for armor you want them to lay flat to keep blades and stuff from sliding underneath.

@emma @efertone ah gotcha. you might need to grind down a piece of steel to suit your needs. i can't think of anything off hand that has that shape but it would not be difficult with an angle grinder. bf would die from angle grinder noise and fumes tho hehe. you could do it with a big hand file

@emma @efertone one thought, since your sheet is fairly thin you could carve out a form out of wood and hammer into that. it should work

@emma @efertone if you had a curved die that fit the back side of the scale with a double curve, you could also hammer into a thick piece of rubber like a piece of a car tire

@meowski@fluf.club @efertone@slippy.xyz this is using a small spoon. i can also use a soup spoon for less pronounced curve if this one doesnt look good.the problem is i need to use a ballpeen hammer which leaves indentations

@miscbrains@misc.brainsoap.net @meowski@fluf.club @efertone@slippy.xyz yea i dont hate the look of the hammer dents but dont like the scuffs and scratches on the metal. i could play around with covering it with a cloth or some pvc
