CBC news posted this "story" to help folks "understand" the - (ugh) "unprecedented" wildfire season. The reason for the fires? The heat. The only time the article mentions "greenhouse gasses" is to state how much the *forests* will release as they burn.NO explanation or investigation of Canada's disproportionately large role in fossil fuel exploration and production (except to say how "our" forests are a carbon sink, because Canada likes to count the natural sinks but not the carbon produced when deciding if we're doing enough), including no mention of the public funds still going to fossil fuel companies. This is a failure of Canadian media, in a climate crisis.

Like fucking hell if CBC could stop with the "golly gee whiz WHAT is WITH this warm weather, eh? What an unprecedentedly warm year. It's a mystery AND a surprise!"

if you go to the article, count how many times they use a word like "striking" and "unprecedented" and how many times they use the phrase "climate change" and then have 100 conversations a year with your friends and family who hope this whole surprisng year with all the disasters is behind us soon and then let your head gently explode.

(don't bother looking for how many times the article says oil or fossil fuel or whatever, it just plain doesn't. I wonder if historians(should we be so lucky) will consider this "journalism" to be criminal)

The story is by their "climate reporter". Shame on you, buddy. (but also, shame on the editors all the way up to the management/board whatever that is forcing human beings to cover up the cause of the biggest human-caused disaster in all of history - that's a hell all of it's own, I imagine. To be the mouthpiece of the metaphorical horsemen of the apocalypse)

Trying to do pitchbot-style headlines but I'm worried someone will point to the real time CBC used it.
