It's sucks that the Japanese working standards are so low for employees, tempting to work there otherwise...

@Pantsu Me and the (Japanese) wife have adopted the viewpoint: Japan is great for living, terrible for working. So, ideally, you save up money and go for an early retirement in Japan.

@uberrice yeah, the salary for my job is like 15% higher there, but here I got 5 weeks paid vacation and I only work like 35 hours per week. Might try and retire there as well öwö

@Pantsu yeah that's also a thing. Since I'm from Switzerland, I would take like a 60% salary cut if I were to work in Japan, which makes it even less interesting as a workplace.

@moffintosh @Pantsu well, you usually get 5 weeks of vacation in Switzerland as well, and if you want to work 32 hours a week you can just go for an 80% job - which pays 20% less

@uberrice @moffintosh Sweden, 5 weeks vacation isnt the standard its more like 4. We also get like a year of paid parental leave and it's almost illegal to fire someone, they need to fuck up badly get told off and be given "ample time" to improve.
