Streaming on Twitch is weird. I have no idea how people actually handle dealing with a chat of a few hundred people while trying to say something coherent.

@tante as far as I can tell you have volunteers help you behind the scenes

@fancysandwiches Probably. Luckily I was just a guest and could focus on just saying things and answering questions but just seeing that avalanche of words fly by was nauseating.

@niedlichenacktschnecke I mean if it were just me doing my own thing and not having to answer questions by a moderator and talking to other people it might be a bit easier (plus my personal chat would have maybe like 3 people in there) but holy shit.

@tante this, totally. I mean, most successful streamers have moderators to enforce some house rules, but watching people casually do their streaming thing *and* interacting with the chat is impressive

@tante I am too old to "actually get it", but from watching twitch streams from time to time I find it fascinating how the medium of "insanely fast flowing wall of text" gave birth to a quite bizarre but obviously working and unique form of communication. All of the internet has "inside jokes" (aka memes) but a huge twitch chat is really something else...

It's too much

@tante @niedlichenacktschnecke FWIW, the way I understand it, it takes a LOT of effort to get even one person watching for anyone starting out.Getting 3 or 4 viewers, would be hard, for most people. These people with room scrolling by are definitely something special. Imagine managing that flow is part of that special.
