HOT TAKE!!!As a new ContinuousWave QRP operator, I feel like 9 levels of signal strength is a bit much. I really feel like I have 3 levels: 9, 5, 1.9 - Gotcha! You're hot!5 - Little sketchy, but we're making it work.1 - Oof. Wow. Can barely believe I'm pulling this outta the noise!I know I'm doing it wrong, but 9 levels is more subtlety than I know what to do with!I mean, 7? 3? 8? What?#HamRadio #MorseCode

@nonlinear If I ever hear your call on the air, you KNOW what RST YOU'RE getting!

@KC8JC I sometimes see discussion about usefulness of RST and if there is a better system. Regardless, one of the most useful aspects for me is the differential between the report received and the report sent. Sure there is some variation, but when I am getting 59/599s and am giving 44x or 33x it tells me my receive path is in need of some attention. I run a random wire, and hope that adding a proper feed point choke will improve my receive.

@nonlinear @KC8JC I love/hate the guys whose timing is so far off they don't send CQ. They send CEK.It might be just 1 or 2 dudes, for all I know. I just know I bumped into it EVERY time I went band-scrolling for CW for a while.

@nonlinear I'm usually operating portable at a park and QRP. If I get 5-ANYTHING I feel like a success. I'm usually waiting to see how far out people are. It's fun to check out the states that roll in. Maybe I'll get more sophisticated someday (kinda doubt it).

@nonlinear @KC8JC Doubt it was you. This was nearly a year ago I last bumped into it.And it's OK. It gets better with time. It's more a point of amusement that CQ - the bit that's the same for every op, is the thing that's so often mis-keyed.
