       @nonlinear sorry for being cynical, but unless software is #opensource #foss, IMHO it's only a matter of time before they turn evil. You might consider https://syncthing.net/ as well.

       @daltux @lps i can't even get *started* with sync thing.Like I can't make top from bottom. I don't think it has an onboarding, just... Levers. Resilio Sync is more simple, it doesn't even have concept of authentication, just folders connecting to folders.

       @daltux @lps I'm recommending it to Dropbox crowd because it's simple to use, like Dropbox. It's frankly same logic, just no caps. Or surveillance.

       @nonlinear that's fair, for anyone looking for an extremely simple replacement it's a good choice....with the caveat I mentioned at the start.

       @nonlinear @lps Well, if you do not like #Syncthing, there are plenty more #FreeAsInFreedom options like #SparkleShare (https://sparkleshare.org), @EteSync, @CozyCloud, @nextcloud - host it or find a provider at https://github.com/nextcloud/providers#providers) - some are #FreeAsFreeBeer too. I have a #NextCloud space (and much more) at @disroot which I recommend :luffy_like:#FreeSoftware #SoftwareLivre

       @lps @CozyCloud @nextcloud I don't think so, at least having a look at their main source code repository pages: #NextCloud https://github.com/nextcloud/server is mainly in PHP and Cozy https://github.com/cozy/cozy-stack in Go language.

       @lps @daltux no, we are a distinct project, we don't share code with OwnCloud nor NextCloud. The project started in the same years, but with different goals (personal cloud vs generic cloud) and technologies (Node for the first version, Go now, vs PHP).

       @CozyCloud @lps That is very good to know, thank you. I will certainly consider it when creating my own personal server, what I intend to, soon.

       @daltux @CozyCloud if you're considering self-hosting I wholeheartedly recommend #yunohost which if you're not familiar with, is basically a headless debian server that is simple enough for noobs to install and comes with a web admin panel to install all sorts of apps, that are basically one-click installations.https://yunohost.org/#/They even provide a free subdomain for all your hosting, an email server, and an xmpp server!
