Every time someone comes to Discord and asks what distro to install the answer is always #Ubuntu If you're new to #Linux, just use Ubuntu and save everyone headaches.

@ThePlant With all the snap drama, I am kind of sceptical. I with @outfrost . Mint is better.

@ThePlant In my experience it's more like this:Some random person asks for a distro recommendation without any context. They are then recommended a number of distros that equals the number of recommenders times 2 at least. These will include things like Solus, Manjaro, Void and {insert obscure distros that will die within a month}. People will also proceed to trashtalk Ubuntu, rant about systemd, snaps and whatnot, all without knowing anything about the intended use case. Fun times.

@theDoctor @ThePlant what I find interesting is that posts asking for a recommendation for a distro only stay on track for 2 replies. After that it turns into long tribal wars and the OP is most likely left without an answer and a huge amount of doubt regarding whether or not switching to linux is worth all the noise.**OP slides a "I went back to Mac/Windows. Thanks" message somewhere on the 14th page of the post****Nobody notices and continues to argue****Nobody remembers how it started**

@gabriel @ThePlant Yeah, that too. Nonsensical Linux recommendation threads are a pet peeve of mine.
