@rin some have smartened up and temporarily cut off your internet access if they see any packets with a ttl of 64 (as opposed to the default of 63)

@afif it's pretty common for unlimited data providers to restrict hotspotting/have separate quota for it. the way they usually detect it is via packet time to live header, since if you hotspot it will be lower than if you just browse on your phone. so increasing the default ttl on clients can sometimes bypass those restrictions
