@stux except Vine was just 6 seconds (iirc?) and square format, whereas TikTok was initially like 30 seconds mobile videos, and now 1–2 minutes.I also don't think Vine included such a great algorithm, which is yeah, a huge privacy violation, but it what makes TikTok so great — it literally adopts for you, isolating you from content you don't want to see, and pushing more content that you'll most likely enjoy.This is how it usually goes and I think TikTok is a huge improvement on Vine idea.

@stux I feel you. I really do. But it isn't just big tech. They're just the biggest jock's of the moment.If someone were to create a tv show, youtube channel or podcast devoted solely to talking about the dumbest/dumb business decisions business people have made across the globe over humanity's lifespan.They would quite literally...NEVER run out of content. lol

@stux that is good facts to a useful conclusion. there is another part of this problem whereby users are severely uneducated about things like privacy issues and technology ethics and are thus easily manipulated by the tens of millions into wasteful and harmful behaviours.
