We have a similar thing in Australia, the police force regularly send out missing person texts. I blocked the number. I managed to get through the 80’s, 90’s and turn of the millennium without government personally messaging me their problems, I can do without it now. To me, it’s just a literal overreach into my personal space by an entity I have no trust or respect toward. Just because I choose to have a phone doesn’t mean they are welcomed to contact me.

It could actually be a breach of the 4th amendment now that I think about it. Contacting users is fine so long as we can block the number. Physically inserting messages into personal dervices against the users will on the other hand...

For me it comes down to intrusion and trust. In these days when spy ware can be installed into phones through messages that don’t even have to be opened, I’m not trusting random messages from government.

I understand the sirens not being used - those are used for flooding so people hear them and flee inland meaning the fires would get them due to confusions - but not using the emergency alert system to tell them what's wrong? ... That's like that idiot who turned off the water because water is sacred...They CHOSE those morons. They picked them and if they die from their choices then perhaps they will learn that you don't put such ideological idiots in the seats of power like that.
