In 2000, the Beatles created THEBEATLES.COM in relation to a new Beatles compilation album set, "1". For whatever reason, the legendary demoscene group MELON was hired to make flash animations for their songs. The results are now emulated at Internet Archive.Warning: Flashing lights galore.https://archive.org/details/melon-cometogetherhttps://archive.org/details/melon-ifeelfine

@textfiles I am DEEPLY CURIOUS about how this came about because this is hella trippy.I was not prepared for the go-karts--and then it got weird.

@textfiles ah, nice! I still think about the Come Together one every now and then. I didn't think I'd be able to watch it again

@textfiles @bit101 wasn't that the agency/group that disassembled SWFs and reassembled them to make their 3d engine faster (by removing some type asserts)? I remember someone did that pre-AS3 and the performance was unbeliveable.

@textfiles ah that's where those came from. I saw some parts of that on YouTube, and couldn't figure out where those animations came from

@textfiles I've had that Come Together flash animation stored in my local archive since it came out but for some reason I had never seen the one for I Feel Fine! Thanks for that.

@textfiles I admit I was wary of uploading these, given all the legal trouble the Archive has had lately and how The Beatles' lawyers have treated anyone infringing their IP even a little. Then again, I believe these animations deserve a home on the Archive in all their Flash goodness 🙂

@textfiles Okay that is *very* impressive for Flash in the year 2000. I don't think actual 3D was added into Flash until ActionScript 3 and the molehill rendering engine in... I think 2011? So I'm guessing this is some very clever rotoscoping. I tried playing with a 3D engine for ActionScript 2 called Sandy3D and it could barely handle 200 triangles in the year 2007. But ActionScript 2 itself wasn't added to Flash until 2003. So in the year 2000 Flash barely had any programming language at all.
