I'm having that feeling where I really want to share an idea or insight but don't feel "bolstered" by enough background study that might influence or change my mind Like, what if I post/argue something and look completely fucking ignorant

@mazel mood i get that feeling a lot too. but i think it's silly to judge people for talking about stuff they're interested in and learning, because it's silly to expect people to be scholars before sharing their thoughts (and i think the perspectives of non-scholars are also worth listening to). we shouldn't have to fear getting judged for being ignorant, instead ignorance should be an opportunity for learning and conversation. for that reason i think people should feel free to share their thoughts, and if they get something wrong that's a moment to learnof course, this necessitates a social environment where such conversation and openness is the norm; on fedi this involves filtering your audience and finding the right community. imo xnfm kinda has that sort of culture, though it might be a bit of a mixed bag, but even (and especially) the most well-read users are very empathetic and non-judgemental imo, so i don't think you need to worry too much about that (i can't speak for everyone here, but i can say that i like reading people's posts regardless of their background and i'd be interested to hear your ideas and insights)
