@lowqualityfacts I did not want to spoil the novel, that is why I kept this fact a secret.

@lowqualityfacts I took a technical writing course in university. For some reason the prof decided that having us read Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man would be helpful. The after the second class, there was bedlam as a assembled engineers and science majors lost their collective shit over the book. This continued through the rest of the term. The prof was eventually replaced. I've had a grudge against Joyce ever since.

@lowqualityfacts This may be a low quality fact but it is also entirely possible.

@lowqualityfacts I want some more facts. How did this work? Was the dictionary closed and he got words further through the alphabet the harder he threw?Or did he stick all the pages on a wall, put a blindfold on, spin round and throw? And how did he decide which side of the page to choose the word from? You provide a great service but some of us want to recreate this idea

@lowqualityfactsBetter than Shakespeare's method. He just made his own words up. He literally sponkafied them out the wanglosphere.

@lowqualityfacts James Joyce, in his Finnegan’s Wake phase, was to literature what Jackson Pollock was to painting

@lowqualityfacts This is at least as plausible as any other explanation for Joyce's work.
