I ordered an item that got shipped from Ohio.It took FedEx 2 days to deliver it to CO.It took USPS 2 days to deliver it to my box (around 30 feet).Yesterday evening (around 5pm) my wife ordered a PC keyboard from Amazon, and I saw the box by my door at 5am.How is Amazon doing this?

@rahmat The Amazon delivery fleet is a franchise. The drivers are scrappy entrepreneurs.USPS, UPS, FedEX, etc are all old established busineses. Their workforces have no incentive to work harder than necessary to remain in business.FedEx is even more odd in that if they have the ability to delver a package early, they won't. I've had packages sit in a warehouse for 2 days just becuase the shipping was 3 days. However, the Amazon drivers are only driving the "last mile" from the warehouses.

@rahmat And by "workforces" I'm not just talking about the boots on the ground. The whole company is aligned with not doing any more work than necessary, including management and C-suite. The company defines "express" delivery as whatever it feels comfortable doing. Most workers who don't have founders' shares aren't all that motivated to burn themselves out for your wife's keyboard.

@ReadyKilowatt I'm not a fan of FedEx, but they will deliver the package, but USPS is a dinosaur.
