       Next time a denier claims that COVID-19 is just a flu, show him this graphic from the new Alberta respiratory illness dashboard.Almost 23% of covid cases require hospital admissions.Yikes!

       @MarkhamHislop Disclaimer, COVID19 research scientist here for a few years now.I admire your intent here, and your right, covid is worse thant he flu...But also its important to under stand this is "bad data" in that it is anecdotal and not really representative. In fact it is wildly off, and the real number is much much lower. What the actual number is is hard to say for the same reason this number is misleading. That is, Most cases of COVID are asymptomatic and therefore the overwhelming majority of people with covid never get tested or identified. Even if you know you have covid from a home test that is unlikely to get into the official numbers unless it is bad enough for you to go get treatment.So I appreciate you trying to show that COVID is serious, more serious than the flu... but lets try to stick with real numbers and not exagerate that claim either... no where near 23% of people who catch covid need hospitalizationzation in general.
