Stupid #Covid. Wasn’t sure if I was having a virus-related heart attack, blood clot, or just burning chest pain from coughing. Fortunately it’s the latter. Now facing a whopping ER bill thanks to a friend who didn’t mask on his airplane flights.

@IdahoLark Feel better soon. I know someone who decided now was a good time to fly to Iceland with his SO and his daughter for 10 days... airports, planes - no masks, lots of tourists from everywhere - no masks. Restaurants- no masks. Yes, they got sick. But he didn't know it when he went to help his other kid move... he found out the next day. This is a smart, prudent guy who just decided to throw caution to the wind...& pass germs around. Hope your friend offers to pay!

@IdahoLark Sorry to hear this - get well quick! I got covid Sept. 1 and was pretty down for 2 weeks and still feel it - caught it at moose camp - 6 of us living in a wall tent for 8 days. The perp didn't own up to passing it on to us, though was obviously sick at the start.

@Jdnome Dang. It sure sucks to have Covid and not have the comfort of your own bed and easy access to pharmacy or doctor. I sure would have tried Paxlovid despite the potential side effects. I sure don't want to get long covid. But most important--did you guys get a moose or two?

@lolonurse I'm pretty sure my husband and I were the only ones masking on all nine of our flights. Kept us healthy the first week but three of our group who joined us a week later didn't. I still had symptoms flying home and double masked, though looking at all the unmasked people on our flights I thought "Why should I care about their health when they obviously don't?"

@lolonurse I should add that two of our unmasked friends (and the one who caught it on the plane) are pharmacists! And they were traveling with their 80 year-old friend. I really thought they were smarter than that.

@ukuku Thanks. I do feel a bit better today, so hopefully I'm past the worst of it. Apparently a rebound or "second-week crash" like happened to me is not that uncommon in older folks, even among those who didn't take Paxlovid. I did test negative yesterday so hopefully I've conquered the virus. Now I have to wait three months to get the newest vaccine.

@IdahoLark Pretty uncomfortable to be sure.. and very low energy to be walking on tundra. My tent was the red one. A big problem was being too sick to take part in all the boozing. (Whiskeys, beers.. etc). Worst was about 3 days. We did get a moose - split between 4 of us.. so a hind quarter is more than enough for my wife and I. Hope you're feeling better!

@Jdnome Excellent about the moose, but hell, tundra can be hard enough to walk on when you're healthy. Fortunately I didn't lose my taste for alcohol until I got home, so I got to enjoy plenty of Caipirinhas while in Brazil. I also brought home a bottle of cachaça to make some when I feel better.
