       Not to get all conspiracy theory, but there's no way in hell a 16-year-old kid did this. Not by himself. This is a professional tree cutting job, complete with perfect guide marks on the trunk for sawing. Note: if you want to argue with me about this, don't tell me that teenagers can use chainsaws. I know they're capable of that. I'm saying that teenagers don't make professional cuts on the first try through an enormous trunk. I'm a pedant too but goddamn#SycamoreGap

       I had the same thought.  The idea that a kid did this only sounds feasible to someone who has only seen chainsaws in movies.
