That waistband went on very nicely! I basted every single step to get all the edges lined up. Every one. My thumbs hurt from unpicking but it was totally worth it. I think I love the rainbow buttonhole. Gave me a reason to pack the stitches close together too! It’s only belt loops and hems after this, but that’ll have to be tomorrow. The main things I learned on this pair: *baste.* The other seams don’t matter but make sure and fauxverlock the crotch curves before they start to fray. I might give the next pair’s crotch a stay stitch at 1/2”, too. I used a different zipper this time, of slightly less outstanding quality than the burly YKK last time. It feels strong enough, and it was easy to work with *except* the shortening part. Pulling the teeth off the top of the zipper frayed the hell out of the seam allowance bit I was creating, but I melted it with a lighter and the stoppers went on fine. I used a different button, too - this one of higher quality. I’ll do a second post with pictures. I put the coin pocket a little too close to the top. It works, but I gotta remember to actually mark its placement and not just eyeball it. #sewing #jeans #denim

Two types of jeans buttons. First photo shows the lower quality single tack, second photo shows the higher quality two prong type. For both buttons, you stick the tack through the back side of the fabric and line up the button on top. Two perfect whacks with a hammer will seat the first type of button, but they’ve gotta be perfect whacks and the button metal is very soft. Easy to horribly screw up!I bought the other buttons late at night online, and after they arrived I realized you were expected to have a specific, expensive die press. So I threw them in the Oops Box and forgot about them. But then the other day I was late night etsying again, and I found a different seller for the same type of buttons, and *he* had a link to how to DIY whack those button prongs down, so that’s what I did. The third photo is why I had to stop for the night. ADHD: the H stands for Hell. Entirely too much tidying to continue 😂#sewing #jeans
