People like to yell at me that the center-left are not my enemy and yeah, mostly, probably, but that doesn't necessarily make them useful allies either and there's a lot of wolves in sheep's clothing.I have colorful things to say about everyone in the political spectrum. I'm not singling you out and it just starts to smack of "hit dogs holler" after a point.

@JessTheUnstill Yeah, one of my biggest criticisms about these people is they SAY they're good, enlightened liberal allies and then turn into NIMBYs or bigots or ghost you as soon as you need them to help someone else.A lot of self-proclaimed liberals aren't, basically.

@gwynnion @passenger @saddestrobots @JessTheUnstill Lately I've been wrestling with the idea of labor unions in industries that I believe should be dismantled or reduced. Like IT, for instance. It'd benefit me personally if we had a union here, but I can't imagine how a union could advance the goal of scaling back IT, an industry that I feel increasingly is inherently about creating tools for oppression.

@foolishowl @passenger @saddestrobots @JessTheUnstill I don't have a good answer either as we've seen how unions can become powerful and toxic political players on behalf of groups that need to be reined in like the police.Granted, in most cases I think it's the owners-executives who are the real danger and we should protect people who are being treated unfairly, as they rarely have the leverage to sustain an unhealthy industry themselves.

As all good anarchists know, centralized power can and will corrupt. Union bosses are no exception. Regardless, they are still more accountable to labor than capitalists are.
