       We have a set of 1952 Funk & Wagnalls Encyclopedia that is fun to flip through from time to time.  Never really thought about the origin of the term ‘thug’ before.

       @DrChris Something similar with 'run amok'.  Based off old stories from English explorers in Malaysia.  Would describe people that would become psychotic and go around killing people until they themselves were taken out.
