I cannot see how you can nab the AI companies for training on public data without also making search engines illegal.

@quinn search engines do not produce "new content", they directly quote β word for word β scraped content.Search engines give direct, clear attribution of where a given piece of content came from.Search engines fit well within the copyright law "quote exception". "Generative AI" does not.The "generative" part is where they differ.

@admin @quinn @rysiek a simple way to appreciate the difference is this: you can ask a search engine to remove the data regarding a specific item, and they can comply pretty effectively. The LLM corps clearly state they cannot do this exactly. Also: a search engine has no problem stating which pages it indexes and which not. LLM corps refuse to do this.

You generate texts too, in the same manner. Itβs only your ego the difference. Culture only for humans! What racist thing.

@admin did you just use "racism" in a conversation about the difference between an output of an algorithm and the result of human creativity? Seriously? π Here's some actual deep-dive on racism behind "AI" and equating algorithms to human creativity:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P7XT4TWLzJw@quinn @oblomov
