@anders I used to have several IFTTT workflows (for 10-ish years), then they started cranking down how many you could use from "all of 'em" down to "try one then pay us" (or whatever the current setup is). I deleted them all after that.I get monetizing, gotta keep the lights on and all that, just didn't seem very user-focused in any way for non-hardcore folks.

@anders Curious to see what you go with and any suggestions. I just want to automate a few things without having to manage all the stuff that's behind it (for now anyway).

@dropcase I’m most curious about #n8n since it can be self-hosted (and easily so since @cloudron has it, which is what I use for one of my servers).

@anders I’ve used Zapier for years, also IFTTT, now I’m giving money to Make and it's good.I can recommend them.

@czottmann I used IFTTT for many years, but couldn’t justify the cost in the end. (Mostly personal automations.) Now I have some professional needs, so a bit different this time around. I plan to start exploring n8n, installed on my own Cloudron-server. The that a workflow-guy like you recommend Make says something, I guess. :)

@anders n8n looks tempting but has hidden costs (i.e., I have to do maintenance myself), so Make was a good decision.I have hooked it up to Linear, GH, my Discourse forum, Mastodon instances and Pocket. (The Linear workflows are interesting because for some things the pre-made Make blocks for Linear aren't sufficient but I can use the Linear GraphQL endpoints.)

@czottmann Thanks! My main need is for automating link sharing to a couple of different platforms, and that Make supports Buffer is a big plus. I’ll try Make first then. :)

@czottmann Do you use Make with Dropbox as well? One destination for my links will be markdown files to be imported to #Obsidian. Sending them to Dropbox and moving them into my vault using Hazel is what I’m thinking about.

@bobbensonbill Turned out that Apple Shortcuts was a better solution for my needs. :)
