This is the reality of a boiling planet. We are on track to overshoot our #EUGreenDeal goal to cut our greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2030. But we need to speed up the global clean energy transition if we want to limit the temperature rise to 1.5℃.#COP28 will be our opportunity to do so.

@EU_Commission Clean energy transition also has to include energy storage. So many discussions focus solely on generation, while storage to take care of peaks is at least as much as important. We could learn a lot from Australia in that regard - they built huge battery plants so their grid can handle increased demand during peak times better.Also: energy transportation needs to be addressed (read "better power lines" in layman's terms).

@EU_Commission Maybe the first step would be for the president of the Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, to stop announcing she wants #growth. Or try to explain how she thinks growth can happen while not destroying the planet we depend on. Like @jasonhickel has said, it _might_ be possible, but it's like making our lives *much* harder and risk billions of lives, for the profits of a few tens or hundreds...
