PeerTube is a fantastic project. But its UI is designed around people creating "channels", for publishing video regularly to an audience, as a lot of people do on ThemTube. A lot of the PeerTube UI assumptions don't make sense if what you want is a video library, more like Vimeo. A dedicated host for videos (and other bulky media files) to be embedded elsewhere.Does anyone know an actively maintained free code project designed for that?#video #PeerTube #ThemTube

@strypey Sounds like you're asking for an alternate skin to PeerTube. It might be worth asking the dev for suggestions on how to implement that. They're on Mastodon.

@Chocobozzz> What is missing in PeerTube do achieve such use case?One-click downloads 😁Seriously though, it's not a case of missing features so much as a different approach to UI. Something more like a photo gallery app, or the kind of media library apps we use for managing our music or movie collections on desktops.

@ChocobozzzI don't expect PeerTube to be all things to all people. It's something that could be done by building a new app on top off the PT back-end. But if you are keen to add this to PT, perhaps you could have two video repository types to choose from when creating a new account? A "channel" or a "library". A channel would use the existing UI. A library would have its own UI.Perhaps an account could have one of each, but I'm guessing that's a much bigger change.(2/2)

@strypey I just use a bash script piped into rofi to download and play everything. I'd recommend that, though it's hardly the gooiest of GUIs.People rave about jellyfin. The docs look good. That's probably your best bet.
