       i find my experience quite tainted despite many years of trying to escape what i don't really have a better expression for than something like "modern mental frame", which asserts many things that have the shared characteristic of seeming true, until that which keeps this frame in place is cut off. when it is in place and one is trying to consider that which is fundamentally outside of this frame, it asserts itself as feelings of various kinds of distractions, outright pain even. sometimes you see a moment of this in even quite successfully normal people when inquiring about life trajectories or such.
