       A view of the pre-1948 Palestinian village of Bayt Mahsir in the Al-Quds subdistrict, Palestine, in 1932. šŸ‡µšŸ‡øThe village was depopulated by invading Zionist militias during the 1948 #Nakba

       @WahbAllat I love to compare the Zionist Wikipedia (under control of right wing activists in the last 10 years or so) entries in Hebrew, with various other languages. The #Hebrew #Wikipedia states the ā€œreason for depopulationā€ of most Palestinian villages as ā€œabandonmentā€, never military assault, or massacre, which were commonly performed by militia forces. They actually have custom metadata fields ready for ā€œreasonā€ and ā€œdateā€ of ā€œabandonmentā€ of any #Palestinian village. Epistemic violence on the Wikipedia is almost a standard these days. @palestine @israel @wikipedia

       @oatmeal @WahbAllat @palestine @israel @wikipedia Never? I took a random pick of Lajjun . It seemed more comprehensive than other articles I remembered. So I checked three others whose names I did not remember. Three of the four mentioned attacks as the cause (in one of the three: abandoned after Tiberias was taken).There is quite some activity on those articles in hewiki.Articles:* Lajjun* Ghuwayr Abu Shusha* איהדוד / ؄سدود* Al-Mirr

       @tzafrir @WahbAllat @palestine @israel @wikipedia dear zafrir, I’ve been in enough editing wars to know what happens … they’ve simply not been discovered yet. Try editing one and see what happens. If you’re THE zafrir from the Hebrew Wikipedia you’re also part of the problem as an operator that enables the settlers, btw.

       @oatmeal @WahbAllat @palestine @israel @wikipedia I checked the edit history for the article of Lajjun:https://he.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=%D7%9C%D7%92%27%D7%95%D7%9F&action=historyInitial work was done by an editor (Left-leaning) on Apr-25 2023. A while later you naturally see other editors working on it, as it is a new article. One of them is a known Right-leaning editor. So the article got the attention. And so far so good.Note that on hewiki there is distrust for some Palestinian historians. In this case a major source is Morris's book.

       @tzafrir @WahbAllat @palestine @israel @wikipedia we were both involved in an edit of one of this articles where your right wing moderator friend used the opportunity when someone tried to update an entry to remove all references to settler violence and locked the entry for editing. You supported that decision. I’m pretty sure it’s still locked. The Hebrew Wikipedia is so far off of any other version it’s absurd. There many more articles which are not favorable to the Zionist narrative, they were simply not discovered yet. Benny Morris is the source of the information presented in the English version but not used in the Hebrew one. ———Bayt Mahsir was depopulated on May 10–May 11, 1948, after a military assault by Yishuv forces.[4][23][24][25] Two days later, on May 13, Israeli troops contaminated the village wells with a biological warfare agent consisting of typhus and diphtheria bacteria, as part of a programme to render Palestinian resettlement impossible and ensure 'the destruction of its ability to constitute an economic and military base for enemy forces surrounding the road.'[26]In August 1948, the new Israeli leadership started finalising plans for resettling Bayt Mahsir land.[27][28]

       @oatmeal @WahbAllat @palestine @israel @wikipedia Note that the Hebrew and the English articles provide completing narratives. The English article completely misses the Jewish forces' motivation of the time: the road to Jerusalem. The Hebrew article notes that the village was a base to several Arab military units at the time and notes the fierce battle there. It notes that the village was abandoned, but as part of a paragraph that describes an attack on it.

       @tzafrir @WahbAllat @palestine @israel @wikipedia also, you’re forgetting to mention that the Hebrew version is copy pasting historiography based on the preferred narrative of the milita forces who committed crimes against civilian population. Also, one of the most quoted historians on the Hebrew Wikipedia in respect to the 1948 war is Yoav Gelber. A member of the neo-fascist Tzomet political party (now defunct). I’m pretty sure you didn’t blush when you right some Palestinian historian are not trusted. On the Hebrew Wikipedia you can’t even write 1948 war. It has to be the ā€œwar of independenceā€. From whom? Only god know but that’s the Zionist narrative that guides it today. Let’s not go into Judea and Samaria instead of the occupied territories etc. Orwell would have to redefine #newspeak to keep up with the Zionist Wikipedia.

       @oatmeal @WahbAllat @palestine @israel @wikipedia Hmm.... some facts in that Hebrew article seem to be based on non-optimal sources. Maybe this could be improved.

       @oatmeal @WahbAllat @palestine @israel @wikipedia Comparing different versions of #Wikipedia can indeed be very enlightening, sometimes shocking even; of course this is true in particular for any #Palestine related entries!A while ago, I compared the articles about #Jerusalem. Since then, I’d say the results have even worsened, but as always, the #German depiction of Palestine is – in a very negative sense – on par with the #Hebrew language site.For example, according to the #propagandist page authors, the whole city is ā€œin #Israelā€ – period; a blatant lie – no #occupation at all! Palestine and #Palestinians are hardly mentioned in the main section (or anywhere else, except in the #history part), only at the very end it is started that ā€œmoderateā€ Palestinians ā€œclaimā€ #EastJerusalem; even the #English site differentiates between ā€œadministrationā€ and claims of the two – de facto unequal, n.b. – parties, like most others (mega #FunFact: even the #Afrikaans text – #apartheid), too.Another aspect that is quite striking is whether the site displays the Palestinian town flag and coat of arms – as of now, this is true for the #Arabic and the #Dutch page, for example (didn’t check ā€˜em all …). In the past, this was true for more versions (as far as I can remember) – #hasbarists doing their thing … šŸ™„#PaliverseNow 🚨 #Paliverse šŸ‡µšŸ‡ø

       @oatmeal @WahbAllat @israel @palestine @wikipedia They even replaced the name of the place – #Meir (of all names – #GoldaMabovitch; in fact, it’s after Meir Bar-Ilan, a #fascist #insurgent ā€œ #rabbi ā€œ) instead of #Maįø„sÄ«r! #بيت_Ł…ŲŲ³ŁŠŲ±https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bayt_Mahsir#Nakba #Palestine

       @adalah it’s a common practice the erasure of Palestinian names. Typically after a Jewish victim of some violent event in the area.
