If it comes to employees, they can only enjoy a salary raise amany strikes and ONLY IF the company does well and MAYBE get an extra 20%Meanwhile the CEO ALWAYS gets a 34% raise and already makes freaking 30 million.. :amaze: And they keep wondering why people keep striking..

She makes 29 million a year. Based on 260 working days in a year that's 111,538 dollars a day. Divided by 8 hour work day comes to 13,942 dollars an hour. If divide by 60 minutes she earns 2324 dollars a minute. She takes a 5 minute potty break and gets 11970 for her effort.WTFFFFFFF

@stux There really ought to be a max multiplier.X times your lowest paid worker or outsourced indirect hire.If the CEO wants more money, they have to share with everyone. And CEO money gets counted no matter if it's wages, bonus, stock options or stocks.

@stux "This is a cyclical business..."Then save during the booms to weather the busts. You don't have to be a business major to work this out! Putting your employees over a barrel during a recession just to keep the lights on means that you failed as a CEO and should be sacked while forfeiting any golden parachute you would have gotten

@justafrog @stux Yes - and that would indicate just how divergent the pay is. A multiplier of - say - 100 would be considered very restrictive, but it means that the top people are earning 100 times what the bottom people are.So in 4 days, they earn what the lowest paid earn in a year. Also - this needs to find a way of including part time, contract, even service staff.

@SteveClough @stux Easy to catch in "hourly wages", no?The math and accounting is not complex and well within the capability of modern payroll administration. It's 100% about whether any political party has the guts to enact it.

@justafrog @stux Probably. But then, how do you establish how many hours the CEO actually works.....But making an assumption of 2000 hours a year, you can make it work out.The main thing is to make sure it is not easy to abuse (which is the problem if you are not careful)

@stux What is even worse, there is absolutely no responsibility for them for damage they make to people and company.Stephen Elop has literally destroyed half of the Nokia company. Tens of thousands engineers lost jobs in several rounds of reductions. Responsibility? He received 18,8 million EUR bonus.Martin Winterkorn allowed VW to earn money by cheating on customers. VW only exists because german politicians saved it. Received $12 million bonus.

@stuxI used to work for GM many moons ago. And I can tell you, 1) They very much do not like people talking about money, and 2) pay bottom of the barrel. I know a good few people still there, but it always felt like a puppy farm of college graduates for IT.

@stux I don't think people understand that the CEO's "real" job in a publicly-traded company is to increase the stock price. That's it. That's all that matters to the people who hired the CEO. If firing everyone and selling off the assets maximizes stock value for the almighty shareholder, then that's what the CEO is rewarded for. It's awful, and it shouldn't be that way. But in the US, we've got a long history of litigation and at least one Supreme Court decision that supports that position. It's just another example of how our economic and political systems are broken and/or rigged in favor of the billionaires.

@stux @justafrog @yasufadhili I thought about this before and it needs to be larger. An Apple Store employee would earn significantly more than an h&m employee. The board could just not pay the ceo more to keep wages down, but then that money just stays in the corporate account to be spent by the corporation.Companies need to be heavily taxed on big profits and wealth needs to be shared.
